The randomness of me

I don't ever recall feeling this terrible.

However sick I have ever told you I am, multiply by 2, or 3, or 5, or 10. This is not fun, and I really don't see how I will be able to handle this forever. Hopefully though - it is just for now, until the doctors can figure out the right was to do it. Hopefully at some point I will be able to not have dilemmas like the previous entry. It's all so overwhelming.

Ironically - I run a support group for for other diabetics. But who do I turn to when I need help? What do I do? It's all so unclear.

Well tonight is my convocation for my program!!

Woo Hoo! Should be fun I hope. It will bring some closure to it, that is for sure.

I got my Sandostatin yesterday - 25 little 1ml tubes of 100 micrograms of active stuff - containing about 2000$ of medication. My head hurts when I think of that number. I do no like the needles used for the injections. They are about 3 times longer then the ones I use for insulin, and much much bigger. I hope this stuff works. It is also much harder to prepare the medication for injection. Did I mention I hope it works!!

Had my CRA interview - I thought it went pretty well. They only really asked about customer service and teamwork - 2 things that I excel at. Due to the slowness of the government, it will be about a month before I find out anything.

The bank account is pretty much empty. I am starting at Sunterra next Tuesday, so thankfully I will have some cash coming in again. But I basically have no money until mid-May sometime. Ugh.

Well I have an interview today at Sunterra, for my backup job. I am fairly confidant, even if I haven't really worked in a restaurant for 2 years!

Later I am going to see my sister for a visit, should be fun as always!

Tomorrow I have my CCRA interview - so I will need to prepare for that a bit tonight. After I am off to Clinical Investigations at the UofA Hospital for some Sandostatin (makes me sound like a junkie - but really I am not!)

Friday afternoon I have an interview for a STEP position at the Royal Alexandria Hospital - I think it was something to do with databases or something like that - Rehab Services anyhow.

And then my convocation on Friday night!!

Whew!

Not much going on today. Talked to the folks in HR at AADAC about the position I applied for last week, and they said interviews are being arranged this week, for next. So hopefully I will get a call.

Going to meet a few of the peoples from school tonight for dinner - should be fun!

Tomorrow the plan is to drop more resumes of locally for the 'whatever' jobs.

There are also 9 jobs for PT for EPL that I wil apply for, and hope there are not too many internal candidates!

As per usual, my night consisted of nothing.

Was a little ill today - woke at 8, and my sugars were high - I think I forgot to take my N last night! So not surprisingly I have not felt well today. Ah well.

I slept from 830 to about 1 pm, something that I rarely do, then watched 'The Big Lebowski' - which was alright, but not as good as I expected.

Other then that - went out for a walk later in the early evening - what a nice day in Edmonton today.

Right now playing some music/games to pass the time until bed. Not surprisingly I am so not tired right now!

In more random thought news - tomorrow the plan is to drop off a few resumes to places around here. Safeway, Earls, and whatever else I see in between in the area. Just need something to get the income coming in again!

Well all done at Millwoods for my practicum.

It was surprisingly emotional leaving yesterday - the ladies took me out for lunch, and then also bought a cake as well, and a nice card that everyone signed. Quite touching.

I received my evaluation from the branch manager, and scored outstanding on everything, so that makes me happy, and she is willing to be one of my references as well in my job search.

I also decided to leave my keys in Millwoods, which I didn't realize until 6 when I was home, so I had to turn around, and go back. I got back here at 830, so it was a long day.

Talked to the librarian from CCRA a little while ago, and she wanted me to send her my resume electronically for her to pass on to the rest of the selection panel. She will be calling me to set up an interview in the next couple of days, as she needs to have the librarian from Calgary come to help her select - so they have to work around that schedule.

In other news that I neglected to post before, someone at the Canadian Diabetes Association nominated me to be recognized for what I have done with my support group. I will receive something on May 7 at their regional forum. That is nice to be recognized, and will be a good way to get the word out for more people (even though I am taking a 4 month hiatus from the group for the summer to get settled with work - when I find it!)

Well not too much new, but I thought I would post anyhow on a variety of topics.

Topic 1 -- Baseball. The new season are upon us, and my Minnesota Twins are doing well so far. It is always fun to wake in the morning and read various blogs, newspaper articles and whatnot to recap the games. So much more fun then looking at the boxscores in the paper.

Topic 2 -- Jobsearch. Last week I sent in 5 applications for various positions for Edmonton Public, 1 for AADAC, and have heard nothing yet for any of those. The women at Millwoods where I am doing my practicum keep telling me to keep applying and not let it bug me, so that is what I shall do. Today I got a call from Canada Revenue about the test I wrote last week. She just left a brief message, and I was unable to get ahold of her later, but I would assume that it is either to invite me for an interview (or not). I also found a job for a library clerk at one of the law firms for like 5-10 hours a week. Not the best amount of hours, but could be good to pad out the experience. Like every other position I see, I will apply as always.

Topic 3 -- Sick. I was very sick all Saturday night, and most of Sunday, but feel better today. But I am getting damn sick of being sick if that makes any sense.

Time for supper.

Well I wrote the test for the CCRA today, and I thought it went well. I am not supposed to go into specifics, but I feel pretty confident that I will get an interview.

Out of our graduating class of around 30 people, there were 6 of us there all taking the test, and then about 12 others, who I would assume are library technicians working(or not) other jobs. Dale, Marilyn, Annick, Shazia, Jillian and myself hopefully all represented our class well.

It kind of suprised me how people dressed for it though. I wore a shirt/tie/jacket today to look nice, and for the most part the others dressed professionally, except for a couple women. One wore flannel, looking like she had just come in from the bush planting trees or something like that, and another wore sweats and a t-shirt. I am not sure that this will come into play when deciding who to interview - but damn it... if you are going for a professional job... look freaking professional!

In other news, at my practicum today I helped with storytime, and did the hokey-pokey! Good times.

Well the day after the dumb concussion, and I must say I do feel better. Just a teensy headache really, so I think I got lucky. Of course after my 1st concussion I didn't feel so bad the day after either.

We shall see I suppose. Off to the store to get some food for dinner.

Well not a great way to wind up the week.

I was taking a shower this morning, and as I was getting out of the tub, with the 1 foot still in, slipped, and I fell and whacked my head big time. Out for a few minutes I think, and it took me a bit to really get my wits about me. (or as much as they ever are).

So I head on down to the UofA Hospital, and I find, much as I suspected, that I have another concussion (3rd one if you are counting).

Major headache, some nasuea, and generally not feeling well at all. Having gone through this a few times now - I still do not wish this on my worst enemy.

But the day was not lost - as the library were very nice to me today - offering to come pick me up (even though I live 5 blocks from the hospital), and calling a couple times to see how I was doing. That feels good. I love that place and the people there.

Had a call from a school library where I may have a shot at a temp 2 month position, I am going for an interview next Thursday at 145.

Had a really great day at work/slave labour in the library today.

Did some check outs for the first time, and dealt with good patrons, and grumpy patrons.

Had a little mini-review with the manager, she thinks I am doing well, and wants me to get more involved with some storytime stuff next week. I am excited about this. I think it will be reading a story or two to little 2 year olds.

At the info desk it was actually more then just people wanting a library card(which has been the most common event there so far). Helped a couple high school kids find stuff for projects, and then this cute grade 4 boy find some information for a powerpoint presentation(!!) he is doing on cyclones. That was very gratifying.

I also continue to prepare for my little test for the gov't next Tuesday - looking at print resources, one of the librarians was nice enough to point out a few she thought were important.

Off to bed.

Well almst time to get moving back to the library, but thought I would post some kinda good news.

I applied for a library tech job with Canada Revenue way back in February. Well yesterday I got a call inviting me to write a standardized test for them. I had pretty much given up on that position - so great news! This would be a good job overall. A 1 year term, but most importantly, like 19.75 an hour or something like that. That would be the best part (and the whole getting more experience angle).

Also been a few more postings around in other places then I really expected. This seems to be a not terrible time to be looking for a library job in Edmonton.
